Chapter 4 - An Introduction to Functions - Get Ready - Page 231: 19

Answer

x=5.5 or x=1.5

Work Step by Step

First we should let the equation only left the absolute value , so we should divide both sides by 5 ,and get the answer /2x-7/=4. "For solving the absolute equation , both negative and positive values have a positive absolute value " . So , when we take off the absolute mark of the equation , we can get 2x-7=4 or 2x-7=-4 , and solve each of them by putting -7 to the other side and get 2x=11 or 2x=3 . And we can finally get x=5.5 or x=1.5
