The reason why this sequence is not arithmetic is because there is no constant difference between each term. In order for the sequence to be arithmetic, each term has to share the same difference with their following terms. In this sequence, in order to get to the next term we divide by 2. This is not an arithmetic sequence but a geometric sequence.
