Graphing this function shows that it is nonlinear so it eliminates A and C. By plugging in the values we see that function B fits the graph. Another way to do this is that the function graph looks like a parabola and looks like the graph of $ y= x^{2} $ but only shifted down and function B is a $ y= x^{2} $ graph shifted down.
