Chapter 2 - Solving Equations - 2-10 Change Expressed as a Percent - Practice and Problem-Solving Exercises - Page 149: 23

Answer

About 28%

Work Step by Step

The formula for volume is v=lwh. Using the numbers, the measured volume is 10(6)(4)=240. Adding 0,5 to both and multiplying we get 307.125 for the greatest volume. Subtracting 0.5 from all numbers and multiplying we get 182.875. Finding the difference in volume for both, we get 57.125 from measured volume- min volume. Doing the same for the max, we get 67.125. Since 67.125 is bigger, we will use that. 67.125/240 is about 0.28. The equation comes from difference in volume/original.
