Raising a quotient to a power, the numerator and the denominator are raised to the power. $(\displaystyle \frac{a}{b})^{n}=\frac{a^{n}}{b^{n}}$ Raising a product to a power, the factors are raised to the power. $(a\cdot b)^{n}=a^{n}\cdot b^{n}$ Each of the terms involved in a product/quotient is raised to the power, and then the multiplication/division is performed.
