Answer

$x=3$

Work Step by Step

The distributive property allows us to distribute anything multiplied by something inside of the parenthesis to whatever is inside of the parenthesis. Thus, we distribute the 5 to everything inside the parenthesis, giving us the equation 10x-15=15. We need to get the x alone. Thus, we cancel out the subtraction by adding 15 on both sides. This leaves us with the equation 10x=30. In order to cancel out multiplication, we use division, so we divide both sides by 10 to get that x=3. We plug 3 in for x and confirm that our answer is, indeed, correct.
