## Algebra 1: Common Core (15th Edition)

$\frac{w}{10}$
In order to add or subtract fractions, we start by making a common denominator (bottom of the fraction). Thus, we multiply w/5 by 2/2 (this is legal because 2/2 equals one) to obtain: $\frac{2w}{10}$+(-$\frac{w}{10}$)=$\frac{w}{10}$ (Recall, adding a negative is the same as subtraction.)
