Consider the integers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10 Let $X$ be the set containing these integers: $X=\{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10\}$ The odd numbers in $X$ are: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 Note the set of odd integers in $X$ by $Y$: $Y=\{1,3,5,7,9\}$ So $Y$ is a subset of $X$, therefore the Venn diagram of $Y$ must be completely inside the Venn diagram of $X$. The integers in $X$ which are not in $Y$ are drawn in the area that belongs to $X$, but doesn't belong to $Y$.
