Chapter 4 - Imperfections in Solids - Questions and Problems - Page 135: 4.6b

Answer

Al,Ag, Fe,Zn ,Co,Cr do not satisfy all the conditions of solubility. So they are insoluble.

Work Step by Step

For a substitutional solid solution having complete solubility. the following conditions must be satisfied 1. Atomic radius difference must be less than 15. 2. Both have same electronegativity. 3. Both have same crystal structure. 4.Both have same valency electron. So from the table given in question Al,Ag, Fe,Zn ,Co,Cr do not satisfy all the conditions of solubility. So they are insoluble.
