Here is an algorithm for making pour-over coffee. Step 1 Fill up the kettle with water and put it on the stove to boil. Step 2 Prepare your setup by putting the coffee dripper onto the mug or any suitable vessel. Step 3 Soak the filter with hot water in order to avoid a papery taste. Step 4 Let the boiled water cool to suitable brewing temperature. Step 5 Add the desired amount of coffee grounds to the filter. Step 6 Pour a little water over the grounds and let the gases escape. Step 7 Pour the rest of the water over the grounds in a spiral pattern and don't let the water pour directly onto the filter. Step 8 Wait for the water to drain. Step 9 Clean your tools.
