Central processing unit
Work Step by Step
The central processing unit (CPU) is the brain of any computer system and is usually divided in two parts referred to as the control Unit and processor Unit (Register unit and Arithmetic Unit). Its function is to process and interpret instructions by performing arithmetic, logic, and control operations using data stored in the computer registry, memory words and I/O devices. It fetches instruction cycles from the memory, decodes the instructions, and executes an action according to the instructions.
