Symposium by Plato Aristophanes' Influence in Contemporary Times: Hedwig and the Angry Inch

As the first philosophical writing on love in Western literature, it is important that in the Symposium Plato praises male, homosexual love as the purest, real kind of love. Aristophanes, for example, whose comedy theater was one of the places were adult male passive partners were ridiculed, praises male homosexual love like all other types of love.
