Swords Against Death Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Sheelba is a symbol of prophecy

Sheelba symbolizes a prophetic message because when he meets Fafhrd and Mouser leaving Lankhmar, he asks them not to proceed with their journey, but they insist. Fafhrd and Mouser vow never to return because Lankhmar is full of misfortunes, especially after their first wives were killed by black magic. However, Sheelba tells them they must return in a few years. Sheelba's prophesy is fulfilled when Fafhrd and Mouser find life in Ilthmar boring and decide to return to Lankhmar after three years.

The skull and hands of Ohmphal

The skull and hands of Ohmphal symbolize treasure. Long ago, the priest thieves stole the skull and the hands of Ohmphal from the Guild's warehouse and hid them in the Votishal temple. The Master of Thieves' Guild discovered this reality when he came across a secretive document hidden in the warehouse. The skull and hands of Ohmphal represent dozens of jewels. Therefore, the skull and hands of Ohmphal represent a valuable treasure that must be recovered.

The stone house

The stone house in the forest is a symbol of death. According to the author, the stone house is a living creature with jaws and a mouth. The house is appealing from the outside and attracts its victims who do not suspect any ill motive. However, whoever reaches inside does not come out alive. Luckily, Mouser and Fafhrd notice something sinister about the stone house, and they do not go inside.
