Sorry to Bother You Imagery

Entertainment

In one scene, we see Cassius and Squeeze in a bar taking a look at the TV. The show being aired revolves around people getting beat up and nothing more. Squeeze than mentions how this show is the most popular right now. This imagery is meant to mirror that state of current entertainment where anything can go viral no matter how shallow or hurtful it may be.

Code to Heaven

Cassius, after using his white voice, eventually receives a promotion and gets in the golden gate elevator of success. However, the scene slows to make a point of showing how ridiculously long and random the code to power caller floor is. This imagery is highlighting to the audience how the code to success is sometimes as random as this absurdly long floor code.

Football Guys

Cassius gets pulled into the office after he takes part in a protest against the company. This office meeting is actually to give Cassius a promotion. Cassius hesitates to accept because he was just protesting against this very company and he does not want to betray his friends. However, when the manager mentions to him that this is his moment, we see a bunch of football players appear. This imagery shows that Cassius remembers how his high school football team players have been stuck doing the same insignificant things every day and he is afraid of being stuck like them.

Heaven

On the first day to his new job, we see Cassius and his lifestyle briefly. The imagery of him sleeping in his uncle’s garage and his rundown car reflect his financial status. When Cassius first reaches the building floor we see a golden door of an elevator. This imagery of a golden door is reflective of the golden gates of heaven as shown in pop culture and a place that Cassius eventually desires to reach for financial gain.
