    Miriam's Diary

    Students will creatively engage with the novel.

    Structure:

    Although Miriam gets much to say in the assigned chapters, Sons and Lovers largely takes Paul's perspective, which skews our understanding of the events. To approach the events from another angle, ask students to write a 2- to 3-paragraph diary entry, which retells a conversation with Paul from Miriam's perspective.
