Shutter Island is a thriller mystery movie released on 2010 by Paramount Pictures. The movie is based on Dennis Lehane's 2003 novel of the same name. The movie was also directed by Academy Award winning director, Martin Scorsese.

The movie revolves around the missing case of Rachel Solando, who U.S. Marshals Daniels and Aule have been tasked in finding on the home for criminally insane, Shutter Island. However, Daniels begins to become involved in a more complex game than expected, as he gets entangled in the island's mysterious methods of treatments for the patients as well the true story behind the disappearance of Solando.

The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio in the leading role of Daniels, and Mark Ruffalo as his partner, Aule. Despite the big names in the movie, the rotten tomatoes score for the movie is 68% and the IMDB rating only 6.6/10. Critics have mentioned that this was not Scorsese’s best work, but despite this the film performed extremely well at box office, with a net profit of $295 million dollars.
