Seabiscuit became a cultural icon that in 1938. Considering this period of US histroy why did the public need this distraction? Would Seabiscuit be as popular today if he was racing? why/why not?

During this period in U.S. history, America was still reeling from the effects of the Great Depression, not to mention, Hitler's presence across the ocean. Seabiscuit provided the American people with a distraction...... entertainment and a sense of hope. In my opinion, he would be just as popular today because he was a champion..... only twelve horses to date have won the Triple Crown.
