Afterbirth

The expulsion of the placenta following childbirth.

Parvo

An abbreviation of Parvovirus, a virus affecting dogs.

Cigarillo

A small, cheap cigar, often flavored.

Desiccate

To dry up.

Scupadine

Also known as a scuppernong, a sour species of grape native to the Southern United States.

Indomitable

Impossible to defeat.

Keen

A wail signifying the mourning of the dead.

Ornery

Having a difficult temper; combative.

Mutt

A dog whose breed is mixed or impure. Often derogatory.

Refuse

Trash; rubbish.

Chitterlings

A dish made using the intestines of a pig, usually to conserve resources.

Pockmarks

A scar that makes a pit in the skin, usually from heavy acne.

Ricochet

To bounce or skip from one surface to another.

Stigma

One part of a flower's reproductive system. Often appears in the center of a flower, but varies from species to species.

Nymph

A mythological creature usually portrayed as a young, beautiful woman who inhabits various natural settings, such as the woods or a stream.

Medea

A figure in Greek mythology best known for taking revenge on her former lover by killing her own children.

Jason

A figure in Greek mythology. Medea's lover, who betrays her for another woman.

Pedigree

A record of an animal's breeding.

Spam

A brand of cheap, pre-cooked meat.

Eurydice

A figure from Greek mythology and the wife of Orpheus. Orpheus traveled to the Underworld to retrieve her (unsuccessfully) after she died.
