Ian Bedloe
Ian Bedloe is the main character and protagonist in the book. He is kind and good hearted and lives the perfect cozy life. When he believes he catches his brother's wife, Lucy, cheating he is crushed, but knows that he needs to tell him about what he has seen. After his brother commits suicide, he finds out that Lucy didn’t cheat, and Ian has to learn to live with the realization that several people has died because of him.
Lucy Bedloe
Lucy Bedloe is Danny’s wife and Ian’s sister in law. She is kind and the mover of three. Two of the children are from previous marriages, and one of them is Danny’s child. She is accused of having an affair, that ends Danny’s life. She is devastated and decides to leave the earth as well, and she does so by taking an overdose of sleeping pills.
Danny Bedloe
Danny Bedloe is Ian’s loving brother. He has one child with his wife Lucy, whom he loves dearly. When he hears that Lucy cheated, he doesn’t know how to react or deal with the information. The pretty and perfect picture life he had with his family is crushed, and he decides to commit suicide, thus ending the pain and passing it on to his brother.
