Why does the audience tend to like Mr Blonde the most despite the fact he is a socipath and by far the most violent out of the group?

Tarantino presents us with the character of Mr Blonde who has the most violent scene in the film when he cuts off the police man's ear that he is holding hostage. However, the likeability comes from the fact Tarantino makes his character very witty, with dry humour and amusing one liners the audience warms to him. After his death it is revealed how loyal he was to Joe and Nice Guy Eddie which makes the audience like his character even more.

  2. 2

Are the character colours really that significant?

Due to being involved in illegal crime, the men have code names so that if any of the characters are arrested they can't give their names. Tarantino uses the colours to foreshadow and hint at who the "rat" is in the film, an orange balloon passes the car and in the factory there is an orange bottle of liquid by itself. Later it is revealed that it is in fact Mr Orange who was the undercover policeman. Another significant purpose of the colours is that when Mr White reveal his name to Mr Orange it is seen as a sign of trust as he is giving him the power to expose his identity.

Mr Pink is the irrational character in the film he panics at the slightest things. The purpose of him is to show yet another side to a criminal, where Mr Blonde is the psychopath and Mr White is the rational and softer one Mr Pink offers another personality being the panicked paranoid criminal.
