Melody
Melody is sixteen-years-old and she is having a coming of age ceremony. It is very similar to the one her mother was supposed to have, down to the same dress, fitted for her mother. Her story and how she ended up where she is today is explained from how her grandparents lives were.
Iris
Iris is Melody's mother. She fell in love with Aubrey when she was still young, and she got pregnant, which is why she couldn't use her coming of age dress that was fitted for her pre-pregnancy body. Even when she had a child and a man that did his best to take care of them, she wanted to live her life as she was still a child as well.
Aubrey
Aubrey fell in love with Iris when he was young and she got expectantly pregnant. However, he was prepared and inclined to do everything in his power to make a comfortable and safe home for his girls, whom he both loved unconditionally. He, sadly, died on 9/11.
