    Florence is bringing up Edgar's stories because she thinks that Loureen is lying about what happened to Samuel. Florence is trying to make the point that these types of lies are harmful, a tool that Edgar and other men use to control women. By underscoring the connection, the play suggests that Florence is using the same tools that men like Samuel and Edgar use to control other women instead of believing them.
