    What does Reverend Pulliam say about love, and why is it so offensive to Richard?

    At K.D.and Arnette’s wedding, Reverend Pulliam is a guest preacher. He makes a pointed sermon about the nature of love (and one that is not entirely appropriate for a wedding, as it is very foreboding in tone). He tells the congregation that it must be tirelessly worked for, and even then, you may only hope to understand it. Love, he says, is God, and you have no right to it; you must even work for the right to learn it.
