Inspiration

In the text, King talks about what has inspired his writing. This is often a topic of interest for aspiring writers, who want to learn how to get inspiration like their favorite authors. In the section titled "C.V," King details the events in his life that have inspired his books, showing that one can draw a lot of inspiration from their own life to inform their writing and make it unique.

The Van Accident

In the last section of the book, titled "On Living: A Postscript," King tells us about a serious van accident that occurred in 1999. In this serious accident, King was hit by a van while walking down Maine State Route 5, and in this book, he details how the event changed his life and his perspective.

Writing

As well as telling us about the practical aspects of writing, such as finding inspiration and setting up a routine, King also talks about the more mechanical aspects of writing. The section titled "What Writing is," is about the art of writing, and how it should be taken seriously. King also talks about the mechanics of writing in his section "Toolbox," in which he advises about vocabulary, grammar and style.
