Motorcycles and Sweetgrass is a novel by the Canadian author Drew Hayden. The novel follows a Native American teenager Virgil whose world is suddenly turned upside down when a white motorcycle-riding man enters his home and life as if he was a member of his family.

The stranger also appears to be in a romantic relationship with his mother, and Virgil wants none of it. That is why he decides to seek help from a local self-proclaimed martial artist Wayne to help him rid Otter Lake of the presence of this white man. It is a coming of age story about a young Native American man, a story intertwined with Native American cultural elements, myths and beliefs.

The novel explores themes of family, Native American struggle within the society and within the own community, written in a humorous and light-hearted manner. It was published in 2010 and quickly became a bestseller.
