    Objective:

    Students will relate Eugenides' appropriation of cultural myth to their own writing

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.W.9 ; CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.R.3

    Structure:

    Have students look at the myths they researched in part one of this exercise. What are the elements of those stories that stand out—divine judgment, retribution, the dangers of pride, wandering for years?
