Because of its subject matter, Lies My Teacher Told Me will not be connected to any books that students are likely to have read other than textbooks. With that said, some students may have read selections from books whose themes are similar, such as Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel and Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States. A teacher might also consider connecting the text to American novels written at other points in history and analyzing how they reflect or connect to the myths that Loewen illuminates.
