Leave the World Behind Irony

Leave the World Behind Irony

The irony of the vacation

Clay, Amanda, and their children have gone to an island rental house to have fun for a week. The primary objective of the vacation is to have a good time away from the city to help the couple and the children strengthen their bond. Ironically, the holiday turns out tragic, and the unfolding events are nasty, making the entire holiday miserable. During the first day on the island, Clay and his family are surprised to receive new visitors who claim to be the owners of the house, and they request to stay with them because of the blackout in town. The following day, their daughter, Rose, gets lost in the woods, and the family panics as they look for him. A strange disease attacks Archie, and his four teeth start falling. Therefore, a holiday meant to be great fun turns out to be sad.

The Irony of Danny

When George was constructing his vacation home, his main contractor was Danny, and he thought they built a good relationship and friendship that could benefit them in the future. Many years pass without Danny and George meeting. However, When George finds himself stuck at the vacation home, he does not know what to do, and he seeks to meet Danny, a local contractor, to ask him for help. Ironically, during the meeting, Danny treats George casually, and he does not consider him a friend but someone he worked for. Therefore, George leaves disappointed and realizes no matter how good you treat people, you should not expect any favors from them.

The irony of nature

In Leave the World Behind, the author's primary focus is to show the vanity of life. The book shows how the world is ending, and people are about to leave their precious possessions behind. When Rose locates the house in the woods, she had seen before, the author hints that it is empty. The owners are trapped in San Diego and will never show up again because the world is about to be destroyed by the floods. A state of emergency has been declared, and even the US President leaves his luxurious state lounge to take refuge in a banker. George and Ruth are trapped in the island vacation house while floods destroy their luxurious home and other possessions in the city. Therefore, life is ironic because a man works so hard to achieve wealth over the years, but the property is destroyed in seconds.
