About the Author

Often considered the greatest writer in modern Japanese literature, Natsume Soseki is known for his novels such as Kokoro, Botchan, and I Am a Cat, as well as his position as a scholar of British literature. The years of his life almost the same as those of the Meiji period, in which Japan came into close contact with the West and underwent significant modernization, Natsume's works focused on the psychological and ethical issues that the Japan of his time faced.
