Jonathan Livingston is the protagonist of the story. He is the first among seagulls of his Pack, who rebelled against the set order of seagulls’ purpose in life. Jonathan is a seagull who loves flying more than anything else in the world.
Sullivan
Sullivan is an instructor of Jonathan and other seagulls who have left the earth and continued studying in the world above.
Chiang
Chiang is the Elder who taught Jonathan all the wisdom of philosophy of freedom.
Fletcher Lynd
Fletcher is the first student of Jonathan. Fletcher is a hot-tempered seagull, but under wise control of Jonathan, Fletcher manages to achieve success in philosophy of flight. After Jonathan’s death, Fletcher takes his position of a teacher.
