    Look at what Marcus was trying to capture in his research. Is this something Homegoing itself manages to capture? Why or why not?

    Marcus's research project gets untenable because every time he wants to focus on one thing, he thinks about all of the other things that go hand in hand with it. H's convict-leasing turns into the Great Migration of blacks to the north turns into the Harlem Renaissance turns into Sonny's heroin addiction and crack in the 80s and so on. Homegoing, because of its structure, manages to illustrate a lot of these issues.
