Peeling Out
We watch as Maude peels out of her parking spot outside of the funeral she's crashing. The imagery reveals that this 79-year-old is a wild woman that defies the convention and is outside of the lines of what's expected of her, and the imagery reveals this clearly.
The End
We see Harold's car fly off the edge of a cliff onto the beach and flatten out in the wet sand. We then see Harold playing his banjo as he jigs off on the land. The imagery shows out death has finally brought the death of his obsession with dying and brought him into a new fullness of what's ahead for his life.
Unconventional
We watch as Maude and Harold drive with a tree in the back of the el camino. The imagery makes you feel exactly what these two characters are: planted in the middle of a place they don't belong.
White Lights
We see Maude being taken by ambulance to the hospital. We see a wide shot of the red light on top whizzing past the white lights of street lamps. The imagery shows us the impending doom of Maude as they race against time to try to save her.
