Into the wild Chapter 18: Chris’s Final Days

How do you interpret Chris's death? Do you believe he was incompetent and reckless or someone who made an innocent mistake? Does how he died even matter? Or is the story of McCandless about his life, nof his death?

Generally tmost Alaskans were quite critical of Chris. They felt he was a misguided idealist at best. They thought he disrespected the area by going in with little supplies or experience. I think they have a point here. I think Chris was an idealist who didn’t consider practical realities such as what living in the Alaskan wilderness might actually be like. Chris was also reckless with the people that loved him most like his immediate family. Chris distances himself from them and causes them much worry.
