Description of the Vine

The vine is described as, 'But the thick, dark green leaves of the vine outside lapping lazily against the window, attracted and held him like a spell. He had dared to touch that vine and its countless velvety, black and juicy grapes that hung...' The description of the vine tree has used adjectives such as thick and dark green to describe the leaves. The adjectives build imagery in the description.

Description of the man in the bus

A certain man in the bus heading to town is described as, '... a tall dark man who had high cheekbones. His balaclava was a careless heap on his head. His moustache which had been rolled into two semi-circular horns made him look fierce.' In this description, the narrator has used adjectives such as tall to describe the man's height and dark to describe his skin complexion. These adjectives build imagery such that readers can visualize the man in their minds.

Description of a new contributor to a discussion in the bus

While a discussion was going on in the bus on whether it was true that the prophetess had put some invisible glue on her vine tree, a young man joins the discussion. He is described as, ' He was young and immaculately dressed, his white shirt collar resting neatly on the collar of his jacket.' This description contains imagery since adjectives have been used to describe his appearance.

Description of Brother Mandla

Mandla is described in the following manner: 'His fingers are thick. His nails are yellow. His eyes are yellow. His lips are puffed and his cheeks are kind off swollen.' In this narration, the narrator has achieved imagery by use of adjectives such as the color yellow to describe the eyes and nails of Mandla.
