David Charleston
David Charleston is the main protagonist of the series and is an eighteen year old orphan from Chicago. He embarks on a journey with his mentor, Prof, to search for the titular character, Firefight, after she was exposed to have double-crossed and left The Reckoners.
Jonathan Phaedrus
Jon Phaedrus, also referred to mainly as Prof in the novel, is David's mentor and the leader of The Reckoners, an organization dedicated to rebelling against the tyrannical rule of Epics.
Firefight
Firefight, also known by her cover identity as Megan, is an Epic illusionist whom David was formerly romantically interested in.
Regalia
Regalia is the Epic who rules Babilar (formerly Manhattan). She frequently interferes with the activities of The Reckoners by sending her subordinates to attack them.
Obliteration
Obliteration is a powerful Epic with incredible destructive powers. His only goal is the destruction of everything around him and he is not interested in ruling.
