Fire Rush Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Babylon

Babylon is a British establishment that symbolizes racism. The British establishment is within the Caribbean community in London. There is no Black person recruited in the establishment. Yamaye is shocked when she learns that Babylon only has White recruits despite it being located in an area dominated by Black people. Consequently, Babylon represents the systematic discrimination in London, denying Black people opportunities to improve their lives.

Tombstone Estate

Tombstone Estate symbolizes the suffering of Black people in London. The estate is in dire need of improvement. The infrastructure is poor. For instance, people lack electricity, water, and medical services. Numerous tombs in the estate indicate that most people die in the neighborhood due to a lack of medical attention.

Police custody

Police custody symbolizes brutality. Most of the Caribbean people in police custody are innocent, but the police continue to harass them. For example, the police coerce people in custody to accept crimes they never committed. Moose is one of the many Black men who died at the hands of the police while in custody.
