Deep Wizardry Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Lone Power

The forces of destruction that threaten our world are symbolized through the actions of the Lone Power. He threatened the world of both humans and creatures in the sea. If Lone Power is not bounded, the sea creatures would be depleted and become extinct because he kills them. Sreee and Nita have to look for other participants for the song that would bind the Lone Power for Good. Nita even offered herself as the Silent Lord for the reenaction of the song. The world of the whale wizards was threatened and Sreee had to do everything to protect his kind. Lone Power represents all the evil and danger that lurks around trying to endanger the lives of people around.

Symbol of Sacrifice and Selflessness

The actions of Nita, Kit, and Sree have been shown as a symbol of goodwill. Nita and Kit have to lie to her parents about their whereabouts to help Sreee. They would have chosen not to help since the sea is not their world. They help Sreee look for other song participants to complete the sacrifice. The celebrants endured torture from the Krakens on their way to where the sacrifice was being held to take part in the sacrifice. All the song participants went through a lot of trouble to complete the song and get rid of the Lone power.

Song of The Twelve

Song of the twelve has been used as an allegory of collaboration between different people to create something complete. In the song of the twelve, all the participants have to take their various parts to bring completion to the sacrifice. If one person misses then the whole song cannot take place. Song of the twelve shows the importance of working together, as it would be impossible to do it alone. It shows the strength that is present in numbers.

Sacrificing for Good

The Silent Lord sacrificed herself to the master shark to keep the other whales alive. The Lone Power was eating and killing the whale wizards and therefore needed to be bounded for a while. Since the Lone Power could not be bounded for long, they had to reenact another song to bind it. Nita and kit help Sreee to look for other participants in the song. Nita offers herself as the Silent Lord although Ed, the master shark steps in and takes her part. Ed taking up Nita’s part not only saved her life but the lives of the other sea creatures. Ed, after antagonizing their lives for that long, redeemed himself by offering himself to save the others.

Friendship

Nita and Kit are good friends always supporting each other. Nita even persuades her parent to talk to Kit’s parents to bring him along for her family vacation. The friendship between sisters is shown through Darien’s actions when she covers up for Nita to go meet Sreee. Darien knows of Nita’s adventure, although not every detail, and steps in for her when she needed to get away from their parents. The friendship that developed between Nita and Ed made him take Nita’s place as the silent lord in the song, saving her life.
