Edward Adler
Edward is the central character in the novel and the only survivor of the plane crash. Edward and his family start a journey from Newark to Los Angeles to attend his mother’s writing career event. Unfortunately, the plane crashes, and everyone dies except Edward.
After spending several days in the hospital, Edward is taken in by Lacy and John to live with them. Edward is traumatized by the plane accident and spends most of his time alone. A few days later, Edward meets with Shay, a neighboring girl and falls in love with her. Spending time with Shay makes Edward forget about his pain and trauma. Ultimately, Edward starts a family with Shay, and they live happily.
Jordan Adler
Jordan Adler is Edward's brother. Jordan is in a romantic relationship with his girlfriend and looks forward to marrying her. Unfortunately, Jordan dies in the plane crash as they head to California.
Jane Adler
Jane Adler is a determined character who wants to perfect her script-writing career. Jane wants to specialize in writing about romantic movies. However, Jane’s dream is cut short when she gets involved in a plane crash.
Bruce Adler
Bruce Adler is a teacher specializing in mathematics. Bruce encourages his learners to embrace critical thinking. Bruce’s career ends abruptly when he dies in a plane crash.
Lacey Curtis
Lacey Curtis is Edward's Aunt who takes him in after his entire family perishes in a plane crash. Lacey has struggled throughout her life to get a child but in vain. When she takes in Edward, she treats him like her biological child.
John Curtis
John Curtis is the husband of Lacy and uncle to Edward. John takes care of Edward until he matures to start his own life.
Besa
Besa is Shay's brother. At first, Besa disapproves of his sister's relationship with Edward. According to Besa, Shay is still young for a relationship. Later, Besa discovers he can do nothing to prevent his sister from loving Edward.
Shay
Shay is Besa's sister and Edward's girlfriend. Shay discovers that she feels safe around Edward and falls in love with him. After several years of friendship, Shay marries Edward, and they live happily.
