Cultivating the Mind of Love Background

Cultivating the Mind of Love by Vietnamese Buddhist and peace activist Thích Nhất Hạnh (Thich Nhat Hanh) is a essentially a guide on how to love, according to the Mahayana Buddhist tradition, as it shows the way it is practiced. The book was first published by Parallax Press in 1996, and spans over 126 pages. Thích Nhất Hạnh is the founder of Plum Village Tradition, which is a school of Buddhism.

In the book, personal experiences are described, and Hạnh explains how he became a monk and the practices that entailed. At the same time, he explains the world and the love that is in it, while dissecting texts about the same theme. The book is supposedly fitting for anyone that is interested in learning more about love, in all its forms. It has some specialized terminology, though it is basic and explained in a way anyone should be able to understand. Every religion believes in loving one another, and the book is supposed to help in understanding what that means.
