    In which way is Lenny disabled? How does she feel about her disability? Provide textual evidence.

    Lenny has polio. On her right leg, she wears calipers (a metal brace) which helps her to remain mobile. However, she walks with a limp and easily gets tired. Lenny doesn't seem bothered by her disability. When Godmother's workers' children tease her, she takes it good-naturedly. When Papoo and Ranna mimic her limp, she interprets it as a sign of affection. In Papoo's case, Lenny thinks that she understand the manipulative power of her walk. In fact, Lenny is worried about her life if her leg ever does become "fault-free." She likes the attention and special treatment she gets...
