The use of art is portrayed through many mediums. Melissa conveys art through photography, Frances through her writing, Nick through theatre and Bobbi through poetry. The author is clearly trying to highlight the power of art for expressing one’s emotions.
The Affair
Nick and Frances’ affair is a way for both of them to escape their trapped life. Nick is stuck in a tepid marriage and feels stifled. Frances is trying to escape her past. The two see this affair as a way to escape their lives and engage themselves in a new adventure.
