    James Preller shows that good physical appearance is associated with power while bad looks are associated with vulnerability. The first time Hayes meets Hallenback, he describes him as ketchup and unconventionally unattractive. However, when Eric meets Griffin for the first time, he describes him as "pretty." Griffin's attractive appearance gives him the confidence to dominate others. On the other hand, unattractive students like Hallenback are insecure and afraid of showing up. Ultimately, pretty students are more powerful, and the less attractive ones become the victims of bullying in school.

When Eric looks at Griffin's wooden box, he is shocked when he sees several items that students reported missing in school.
