Leslie Burke
Leslie Burke is a twelve-year-old headstrong girl that knows what she wants. She moves with her loving family into the neighboring house of Jess. Leslie is blond and athletic, and a faster runner than all the boys in her grade. She and Jess make Terabithia together as they grow to become closer and closer friends. Leslie dies as she tries to reenter Terabithia on her own, drowning as she tries to swing herself over to the other side, using the rope that bridges the gap over a river.
Jesse "Jess" Aarons
Jesse “Jess” Aarons is a twelve-year-old boy. He has a little sister called May Belle, who he thinks gets all the attention from his parents. He is an artist and enjoys drawing, as well as running. He makes Terabithia with his new next-door neighbor, Leslie Burke. Jesse is amazed by the happiness and peacefulness Leslie’s home has, and he is heartbroken when she dies.
May Belle Aarons
May Belle Aarons is Jess’ little sister. She gets all the attention from their parents and gets away with everything. When she asks if she can join Leslie and Jess in Terabithia, Jess quickly denies her request. After Leslie dies, Jess lets her in and she is crowned princess of Terabithia.
