Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

    Students will complete activities and answer questions that encourage them to reflect on both form and content, for example, a character's style of speech as well as what they are saying.

    Students will relate characters and themes from the novel to real people, issues, and events (such as the British colonization of Kenya, or the Mau Mau uprising).
