Biography of Marc Forster

Marc Forster was born in Germany in 1969 and is a director, producer, and screenwriter. He has directed a number of successful films since his career in Hollywood began in 1995.

Forster was born in Au, in Bavaria, Germany to a doctor and an architect. At the age of 20, he moved to New York, where he attended film school at NYU, working on documentaries. Early in his career, he directed experimental films. He first gained attention for his first full-length film Everything Put Together in 2000, which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. His break into Hollywood came in 2001 with Monster's Ball, starring Halle Berry and Billy Bob Thornton. Berry won an Academy Award for her performance. He followed this up with Finding Neverland, which was nominated for several Academy Awards. Other films include Stay, Stranger than Fiction, The Kite Runner, Quantum of Solace, World War Z, All I See is You, and the live action Winnie the Pooh film Christopher Robin.
