Biography of Ernest Cline

Ernest Cline is an American author, slam poet, and screenwriter. He is an avid fan of everything pop culture as well as obsessed with the 1980s. Like his characters, Cline has described himself as addicted to movies and video games. Cline began his writing career as a poet while working in information technology, self-publishing a chapbook of his spoken-word poetry in 2001. In 2010, he sold the rights to his first novel, Ready Player One, to Crown Publishing Group. The movie rights were sold to Warner Bros. the next day, and Ready Player One was eventually adapted into a film directed by Steven Spielberg, which was released in 2018.
