The Navy Blue Blook
Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
My greatest fear was stagnation, and it was not until four years ago that I learned how to conquer it. It was then, right in the middle of the monotonous quarantine, that I realized the power of finding purpose: the true strength of being proactive and taking charge in the battle against complacency. However, this realization was just the first step of the journey, as I soon figured that I needed pen and paper to help me map my path. Ever since then, I have been writing in my navy-blue book.
Because sometimes, the navy-blue book is a planner. I write in it to ensure that I allocate my hours effectively - each week is documented on a new page, each page is split into 7 sections for 7 days, and each day is detailed through a schedule, woven with time for family, friends, fun, hobbies, sports, and education. It could tell me to get up at 8:00am to attend Sunday school to immerse myself in my culture and heritage, or it could suggest that I go to bed at 12:00am after rehearsing, conducting, and debriefing an all-district night rally. Four years and 1461 schedules later, I see that the initial realization of the need to take charge has manifested into me being productive and mindful of my time.
