Ice cream machine to my left, plate of pasta perilously balanced in the palm of my hand, I glanced at Russell Jens ‘18, inquiring, “tell me Tufts has an unlimited meal plan,” to which he responded with a resounding “yes”. Over our meal Russell went on to tell me about the 1+4 program: for me, this combination of cultural immersion with a focus on service strikes a chord. Tuft’s emphasis on academics and the significant number of students pursuing international relations majors, along with the spirited Jumbo attitude, resonate -- well beyond ice cream.
