Logan Witherspoon is a young man who has fallen out with her girlfriend Brenda. Brenda and Logan have dated for three years but call it quits when she cheats on him. Logan is devastated by the entire situation and vows not to get involved in love once again. However, his self-acclamation is put to test when Sage Hendricks is enrolled in their school. Logan and Sage hit it off almost immediately. The two lovebirds go on several dates to the chagrin of Sage’s parents. During all this time, Logan is unaware of Sage’s sexuality.

One day, Logan and Sage kiss and she decides to tell him about the truth. Sage tells Logan that she is biologically a male. The revelation does not affect him instantly and the two plan to go to a party at Missouri University. During the party, Logan and sage get intimate. Logan has an elder sister called Laura at Missouri University. Laura is concerned about her brother’s relationship with a transgender person. Therefore, she calls him and airs her grievances. Logan loves Sage but doesn’t want to be associated with a transgender. Therefore, the two decide to end their relationship.

Sage feels uncomfortable concealing her sexuality and resolves to reveal her true gender identity. The revelation has consequences because she is beaten roughly. Logan sympathizes with her when he visits her at the hospital. As a result, Logan rekindles his relationship with Sage to understand her better. The story highlights physical violence subjected to transgender youths. Gender nonconforming people experience oppression and prejudice from people who feel uncomfortable with such identities.
