Basketball, and perhaps sport in general, can transcend racial boundaries to a certain extent. I think boys especially feel a camaraderie through basketball. This is one place where being black is looked upon by others as an asset. Through stereotype and archetype, Rashad's skill in basketball is rewarded by white society. Generally, the boys are seen as a socially even unit in the context of basketball.
